Calcite

Calcite is a common and widely distributed carbonate mineral composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is the primary component of limestone and marble and occurs in a variety of forms, from crystalline to massive and granular. Calcite is an essential mineral in various geological processes and is also utilized in numerous industrial applications. : Calcite is used in glassmaking as a fluxing agent to help reduce the melting temperature of silica and improve the properties of glass.
